INTERNATIONAL MOBILIZATION TRACKS

1. Vision Pathways Cusco, Peru: Campus Ministry & Clinical Work alongside an MCO team

WHAT:

This track is primarily, although not exclusively, for graduates with a healthcare degree or with interest in a future in healthcare. Participants will spend two-years living in Cusco, Peru as part of the Medical Campus Outreach Cusco team.  Team members  will work alongside a MCO staff to reach healthcare students for Christ on two healthcare universities and assist with medical services to the local   Quechua people at the La Fuente Clinic in Cusco.  Graduates will learn to speak Spanish, grow deeper in the gospel, gain ministry and   leadership skills, learn hands on medical skills in the clinic, and learn how to minister holistically to underserved people through the avenue of healthcare. All participants will raise their full support.

Cusco is the center of the Quechua culture.  Spiritually this has created a mix of ancient Incan (Quechua) paganism mixed with Catholicism.   Students come to Cusco from a very large area of the surrounding mountains and jungle of Peru for education.  This offers us access to many healthcare students from all over the country.  Upon graduating, most of these students will leave Cusco and return to cities and small villages throughout Peru and some to other countries as healthcare providers.   There is also a great lack of healthcare among the poor Quechua people making healthcare an incredibly useful tool in evangelizing the poor in a largely under reached culture.

MISSIONAL COMMUNITY:

  • Team members will live together in housing near the campus or MCO team

  • Team members will be members of the partnering local church

  • The team will be part of the MCO staff community (5 families)

2. Vision Pathways International: Manila, Philippines

WHAT: Participants in this track will spend two-years doing evangelism and discipleship among university students in Manila.  The team will work alongside a local church in Manila with the goal of reaching students for Christ and connecting them to the local church.  Graduates will grow deeper in the gospel, gain ministry and leadership skills, learn to labor with a team, and develop world Christian convictions as they are exposed to Filipino culture and unreached people groups in South East Asia.  All participants will raise their full support.

The Philippines is a strategic place for reaching students and building laborers.  The Philippines was a US commonwealth until 1946 and English is an official language.  The religious demographics of the Philippines are:  83% Catholic, 5% Muslim, 3% Evangelical Christian.  Because of the Catholic culture, Filipinos have a biblical literacy which provides a helpful starting point for Gospel dialogue.  Filipinos are also very mobile people and are welcomed by other countries around the world – making them capable missionaries to surrounding unreached people groups in South East Asia.  Metro Manila is the collegiate center of the Philippines with well over 500,000 students in the area.
